Main cycle: Fire beats Wood, for it burns it. Wood beats Earth, for its roots pierce and extract life energy from it. Earth beats Lightning, for it cannot be burnt or shaken by electricity. Lightning beats Water, for it travels through it. Water beats Fire, for its moisture extinguishes it.

Secondary cycle: Fire beats Lightning, for electricity creates heat and flames, and is energy needed to start Fire. Electricity beats Wood, for tall trees are striken down and burnt by it. Wood beats Water, for it draws life from it. Water beats Earth, for it can weaken and erode it. Earth beats Fire, for fire cannot burn it, and earth can block the air it needs to consume to live.
